California Appraisers Database Search Tips
For best results, enter less information rather than more. If you only search on License Number or Last Name, you're more likely to get results. Don't try to fill in all the blanks on the search form as this will almost always yield no results.
When searching for a common last name like Garcia or Johnson, try adding a first name or license level to limit the results. For example, if you're looking for an appraiser named Smith, and you know he has a trainee-level license, search on the last name "Smith" and license level "AT".
If you're not sure about the spelling of a name, enter fewer characters to get more results. For example, if you're not sure whether it's "Susan" or "Suzanne", try using "su" as your search criteria. This technique works on First Name, Last Name and Company Name. It is not necessary to use upper case characters.
License levels are as follows:
- AT = Trainee License
- AL = Residential License
- AR = Certified Residential License
- AG = Certified General License
If you want a list of all active licensees, just click Submit with no search criteria selected. This list will take some time to load (depending on how you access the Internet), since there are well over 10,000 records. If you are still not able to get the results you need from the database after following the tips above, please call the Bureau of Real Estate Appraisers at 916-552-9000.
